ZooSysEvo organized the 2nd edition of the Iberian Systematic Biologist biannual meeting. There were 90 participants that presented 30 oral contributions and as many posters. Grad students had a major role in the congress, contributing about half of the scientific presentations. This is the only scientific meeting organized in the Iberian Peninsula specifically devoted to Systematic Biology, the study and characterization of biodiversity.
On the occasion of the International year of Biodiversity, the Biodiversity Research Institute of the University of Barcelona (IrBio), the Institute of Evolutionary Biology (IBE, CSIC-UPF) and the Zoological Systematics and Evolution research group co-organize a two-day symposium under the title:
“FRONTIERS IN BIODIVERSITY: A PHYLOGENETIC PERSPECTIVE”
ZOOSYSEVO members have co-authored most chapters of a recent electrobic publicaiton entitled "La teoria de l’evolució, 150 anys després [The theory of Evolution, 150 years afterwards]". This electronic book is part of a set of eductaional tools developed by the Museu de Ciències Naturals de Barcelona and the Institut d’Educació de l’Ajuntament de Barcelona (IMEB) to support teaching of evolutionary theory to High School students
